Turmeric and Bromelain
Combined, these two can help speed up recovery. The combination of Bromelain and Turmeric is known for it’s natural blood thinning and pain relieving properties and is often used for menstrual problems and as well as has anti-inflammatory benefits for painful joints. Though the use of Bromelain may not be traditional Ayurvedic treatment, Turmeric is used in many cultures as an anti-inflammatory agent, taken internally and often applied externally to reduce swelling.
Ayurvedic Home Remedies For Dry Cough
Effective Ayurvedic home remedies:
- Before bedtime, take warm milk with turmeric and honey. This works as a natural antibiotic.
- Consume turmeric powder mixed with honey three times a day.
- Licorice (Mulethi) lozenges to reduce inflammation.
- Use the decoction of Sauf (Ani seeds) as the base water to make coffee or tea.
- Sooth your infected throat pipe with natural cough syrup made by mixing ginger and honey. Boil a piece of ginger (peeled) in water. Filter and mix 1 tsp of honey and consume. You can even chew small pieces of ginger sprinkled with water for its anti-inflammatory properties.
- Add a pinch of cinnamon powder in warm water or tea for relief from throat irritability.

- Baked fennel seeds do an excellent job of soothing the stomach. Eat 1/4 teaspoon thrice daily, in between your meals.
- Fresh pomegranate juice helps balance pitta and is good for GERD sufferers.
- Brew a tea using coriander, dried ginger and snakeguard leaf. Take 14 to 28 ml twice every day.
- Drink peppermint tea or take a peppermint oil capsule after meal to prevent gas and bloating.
- According to Ayurveda, adding sweet, bitter and astringent foods to your diet helps bring relief from acid reflux. Add watermelon, split moong dal, green leafy vegetables, banana and cucumbers to your diet.
